Tilly in S5 is back in her element on the slopes doing what she loves the most! We talked with her about some of her recent successes…
1.Tell us about your achievements
I came 3rd in the U18 Girls Slalom Scottish Champs & GBR Series. I have recently qualified as a BASI level 1 instructor and help two Albyn pupils on Monday evenings who did not previously know how to ski. Rather than them missing out, I offered to teach them so that they could join and keep up with the other groups.
2. When did you start skiing and why?
7 years ago my mum was fed up of my brother and I fighting so she booked us onto a learn to ski course at Garthdee!
3. What do you enjoy most about skiing?
The people I have met through skiing is what has made skiing enjoyable. Also going fast down courses is quite fun as well. I love racing – the scenery on top of mountains is always a bonus.
4. What are your future plans with skiing?
In the future I would like to achieve BASI level 2, so that I can teach abroad in a place such as New Zealand. I am also very excited to train abroad in Fonna, Norway next summer.
5. Where’s your favourite place to ski?
Les Deux Alpes
6. What’s your favourite inspirational quote?
As my favourite skier Lindsay Vonn said, “sometimes it hurts when you fall, but you just have to get right back up and keep going”.
Well done Tilly!
