Music
Music is a hugely popular subject at Albyn, not only do a large number of pupils select to study this but there are many different musical groups that practice every week. From the orchestra to the choir to unique music groups such as Fazz Junk, there really is something for everyone. A diverse mix of music is performed at musical concerts, school celebrations and out of school performances.
During lockdown, the music department and our pupils have worked immensly hard to continue their love for music through some fantastic virtual performances such as the Dambusters theme song, Highland Cathedral, Land of Hope and Glory and most recently, the brilliant performance of We Can’t Walk 500 Miles which appeared on BBC Breakfast and in the local news. Drama
Every year, the Albyn community is treated to fabulous shows between the Lower School and the Upper School. In the past few years, older pupils have dived into Shakespeare’s As You Like It, they’ve sang their hearts out in the marvellous musical, Evita and portrayed a unique and interesting performance of George Orwell’s Animal Farm. Lower School put on a spectacular rendition of Bugsy Malone and were supposed to perform in Annie in April but this has been postponed to a later date.
Have a look at the photo montage below of these shows along with a fantastic musical surprise at the end!
