Colours are awarded to pupils at Albyn as a mark of both commitment and achievement. Those awarded Colours whether in music, debating, drama, sport or other fields of endeavour are expected to have made a notable commitment and to have achieved some degree of excellence.
Junior Colours for sport are awarded to pupils in Upper 1 – Upper 3 for outstanding commitment and achievement to at least one sport.
Half Colours and Full Colours for sport are awarded to more senior pupils (Upper 4 – Upper 6) for high levels of commitment and achievement.
Headmaster’s Colours are awarded to individuals who have achieved national or international prominence in sport or who have made a valued and highly-regarded contribution to the life and ethos of the School.
In addition to engaging all pupils and providing pathways for a healthy lifestyle, the study of Physical Education is also offered at Albyn School. Currently taught as both a Standard Grade and an Intermediate 2 course (from 2009), pupils who achieve high grades (Credit Level or Intermediate 2 grade B) will be able to study Higher PE in Upper 5 and/or Upper 6 depending on demand for the course and their own subject choice combinations.
