Athletics is a major sport for all pupils at Albyn. Annually from August to March all pupils from Lower 5 – Upper VI will have the opportunity to undertake distance training in preparation for local and national cross country and road relay competitions. Pupils can train twice a week at lunch times. The emphasis lies in participation, enjoyment, as well as improving general. Teams will have the opportunity to travel around Scotland to compete.
Track and field athletics is the main focus of the summer term. We have a full 400m track laid at Milltimber playing fields which hosts our annual Sports Day and the Albyn Athletics match against Gordonstoun, Lathallan, RGC and St Margaret’s School. During the summer term we provide an excellent experience of athletics to all our pupils with selected pupils working towards the Grampian Schools, Inter-School team and Scottish School qualifications.
Training in the summer term takes place each Wednesday after school and on Saturday morning at Milltimber playing fields. All pupils are welcome to attend each session however; some pupils will be selected on a talent identification programme and recommended to attend weekday and weekend sessions.
