There is always a range of clubs and societies available at lunchtimes or after school. Here are some of them…

The Literary and Debating Society

Who?

All Upper School Pupils

When?

1.15pm, Friday

What?

Debates – for class, year group, Clan, Balloon Debates, ‘Just a Minute’or ‘Call my Bluff’ Competitive Debates and Public Speaking Competitions, both local and national for novice and experienced speakers Burns’ Supper

Why?

To promote the ability to speak confidently in public. To present and sustain a reasoned argument. To listen and respond to other points of view. To develop good communication and presentation skills

And finally, do you like discussion? Do you enjoy a good argument? Are you able to persuade others to your point of view? Can you argue for something in which you do not believe? Do you want to be a lawyer, a journalist, an MP?

If you can answer ‘yes’ to some or all of these questions then the Lit and Deb is for you! Come and join us!

Scripture Union

There are separate Scriptuire Union meetings for both Lower and Upper School pupils, which meet at lunchtimes.The Lower School club is for Lower 6 and Lower 7 pupils. Using the Bible as a starting point a variety of activities take place including discussion times, drama, story-telling, quizzes, videos, games, drawing and singing.

Some pupils have recently been keen participants in Scripture Union Camps. Scripture Union clubs meet in Room A16 and anyone wishing to join in will be made very welcome.
