Beyond the Classroom

Albyn’s pupils have the opportunity to become involved in a broad range of clubs and societies. We encourage all pupils to become involved in a variety of activities which help to foster self-confidence, imagination, teamwork and leadership skills.

While some activities will change over time, others have been long standing features of School life. These include the Duke of Edinburgh’s scheme where typically, over 100 pupils work towards their Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards and where the School has earned a reputation for having one of the highest completion rates in Scotland. Our Young Enterprise Companies regularly collect local or regional awards for the products that they produce and market while our Literary and Debating Society is one of our oldest societies, whose members participate in the Law Society, ESU and North of Scotland Schools Debating competitions.

Pupils can develop their media and journalistic skills by contributing to the School Magazine and can become politically aware and active through their involvement in Amnesty International. Pupils can participate in activities ranging from chess to
Scottish country dancing and from gardening to computer aided design.
