Message from the Headmaster

Albyn School is an independent school of 540 children from 5 to 18 with an additional nursery and pre-prep school. Originally founded as an all-girls’ school in 1867, it admitted boys into the Lower School in 2005 and will be fully co-educational within the next few years.

The School’s examination results are amongst the best in Scotland and it has strengths in the arts, sciences, languages, sport and a wide range of other pursuits and activities. This is a result of its small classes, the dedication of its highly qualified staff and its well motivated pupils.

Albyn aspires to develop the intellectual, creative, practical, moral, spiritual, physical and social potential of its pupils within an orderly and compassionate environment. We aim to help create confident, self-motivated young men and women who enjoy learning and who have an understanding of the world around them: past, present and future.

We also seek to engender in our pupils a sense of tolerance and service, so that they are able to make a positive contribution to the adult world that they will soon join. If you believe that Albyn may be the right school for your son or daughter, I hope that you will come and meet the pupils and staff in person. We would be delighted to show you around. You can then experience for yourselves the thriving, purposeful atmosphere pervading the everyday life of the school.
