Learning Support
Support for Learning
Mrs Deirdre Webster is the Support for Learning teacher with responsibility for the Lower School. She also provides support for the pupils in the first year of the Upper School. Mrs Kathleen Watson is responsible for supporting pupils in the Upper School from Upper 2 to Upper 6.
Support for Learning is available to every child in the school whenever and for as long as there is a need for additional support.
The work of the Support for Learning department includes:
- Early intervention
- Annual screening and tracking of progress
- Individual programmes of support for curricular areas
- One to one teaching, group teaching and team teaching
- Programmes to develop social skills and emotional intelligence
- ASPIRE – Albyn School Paired Reading Scheme (Upper 6 pupils work with Lower School pupils on a on—to-one basis to help develop reading skills)
Mrs Webster liaises with outside agencies when further assessment or advice is required. She is available for consultation with pupils/parents/staff at any time by appointment.
