Languages

Lower School pupils at Albyn benefit from an interactive modern languages programme studying French, Spanish and learning about Chinese culture and language. Pupils in Lower 3 to 7 receive French tuition from the Modern Languages department who visit the pupils in their classrooms once a week. The programme is in liaison with the class teacher and the theme for each term is in connection with their class topics. Songs, poems, rhymes and rap bring a new dimension to the curriculum with fun being the most important element when learning French.

Spanish has newly been introduced from Lower 3 to Lower 5 where the pupils receive one period a week with the intention of progressing it through the school up to L7 over the next few years. There is also a Lower 7 Spanish club and a Chinese Club for Lower 4 to Lower 6 pupils that take place every week.
