Rebekah Sutherland, an Upper III pupil at Albyn School has journeyed to the Houses of Parliament as a representative of JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) to campaign for greater funding for research into Diabetes.

Rebekah is a very active supporter of JDRF and was one of 20 young supporters chosen from the UK (only 2 were chosen from Scotland) to present a giant syringe to No.10 Downing Street to promote World Diabetes Day on 14th November 2009. The giant syringe will contain messages from thousands of people who are affected by type 1 diabetes.

Earlier this year Rebekah was the guest speaker at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Ball at Ardoe House where she spoke about diabetes and how it affects her to over 300 guests at the Ball. The Ball raised over £86,000 that evening – a great achievement.
