A Welcome From Dr Long

Founded in the nineteenth century as an all-girls day and boarding school, Albyn School has evolved to become one of Scotland’s leading independent, co-educational schools. Located in the west end of Aberdeen with our sports fields at Milltimber, we have a school roll of around 650 pupils aged from 5 to 18 together with a nursery for 120 children aged 2 to 5. Boarding is now available for pupils aged 12 and above.

Throughout the time that your children are with us, we will seek to develop their intellectual, creative, practical, moral, spiritual, physical and social potential within an orderly and compassionate environment. We want to help create confident, selfmotivated young men and women who enjoy learning and who have an understanding of the world around them past, present and future.

We also seek to engender a sense of tolerance and service in our pupils so that they will make a positive contribution to the adult world that they will soon join. Our public examination results have been amongst the best in the city and shire. Our small classes, the dedication of our highly qualified staff and the commitment shown by well motivated pupils enable our leavers to attain places at the universities and professions of their choice.

Albyn’s sports teams, societies, choirs and community work have also earned an enviable reputation for the School. While renowned for its strong sense of community and conscious of its own heritage, Albyn School has been embracing the future through its new buildings, facilities, subjects and sports. Whether you are a longstanding resident of Aberdeen, a family drawn here by the oil and gas industry or you are connected with the city’s two universities, you will find others with similar backgrounds and circumstances to yourselves.

I hope that you will consider what we have to offer your children. If you can find the time to visit us, you will receive a warm welcome and you will see for yourself the thriving, purposeful atmosphere that pervades the School.
