Pupils in Lower 4 with the help of the whole Lower School have raised over £400 for the Cystinosis Foundation UK. On the last day of term before the mid-term holiday, pupils in the Lower School made a donation and came to school in non uniform and had to wear a hat!
The pupils chose the Cystinosis Foundation after one of the Lower 4 pupils, Lenny Rebeix wrote about Lena Forsyth a girl who is currently suffering from this disease. Her father Mr Forsyth came into the school to accept the cheque today. Cystinosis is a rare genetic disorder that causes an accumulation of the amino acid cystine within cells, forming crystals that can build up and damage the cells. These crystals negatively affect many systems in the body, especially the kidneys and eyes.
Mrs Thomson, Head of the Lower School said: “I am very proud of all of our pupils and our continued commitment to support charitable causes.”
