How You Can Help The Pupils Of Albyn School

The redevelopment project will collectively provide a better environment for pupils to study at Albyn School. While the School will always provide the necessary teaching resources to deliver the curriculum; we always want to do more for the pupils here. We have been fortunate in commanding the support of our Parents’ Association (ASPA) in fundraising for the School while more recently the Albyn Foundation has been established as a registered charity to raise funds from a broader group of former pupils, companies, organisations and friends of the School.

As we move forward into the second decade of the 21st century we are now seeking to appeal to the broader Albyn community and beyond to support the School to help us enrich the environment for the pupils of the School. If you would like to help Albyn School, there are two specific areas where we would value your support.

Bursaries
We want to provide free places or substantive fee reductions for boys and girls in the Upper School who come from families who could not otherwise afford the fees and also to support any families who experience unexpected financial hardship while their children are at Albyn in order to help pupils finish their education.

The Project
We need financial help to bring this project to a successful conclusion. We have compiled a wish list of equipment and resources that will be used to enhance the redevelopment project and seek contributions towards bringing these resources on stream as soon as possible:

For our youngest…
• Toys and playground equipment are always popular with our youngest children. As the joy of play involves them being thrown, eaten and shared vigorously; we anticipate needing frequent replacements!
• On a larger scale and once the building work stops, we would also like to extend the area of soft tarmac so that our nursery and junior children can run and play freely.

For our school aged pupils, we would like to:
• increase the range of books and resources for the libraries at the School;
• provide equipment to help with the teaching of design, technology and the sciences to help equip the new laboratories;
• introduce a broader range of digital projectors and interactive whiteboards;
• add to our computers, printers, display monitors and extensions to School’s wired and wireless network and computing infrastructure.

What your donation could fund.

£150 could be used to buy:
• toys for the nursery
• an annual subscription to journals and newspapers
• 5 books for the library
• a microscope

£500 could be used to buy:
• A digital projector and screen
• One PC with monitor
• 2-3 network printers
• Network copy of Autocad – design software

£2,000 could be used to buy
• 2 smartboards
• A class set of equipment to teach electricity

£10,000-£20,000 could be used to buy state of the art furniture and fittings.

While a donation of £250,000 would generate income equivalent to a full fee bursary in perpetuity.

What we will do for you
The School has always appreciated and recognised the generosity of donors and the role they play in helping pupils benefit from an Albyn education. Consequently, those who can support us can expect the following:
• Appropriate thanks and recognition.
• Careful management of your gift for the purpose that it was intended.
• a place on our Friends of Albyn roll of honour that is displayed at the School and on the School’s website
• Friends of Albyn who contribute substantively will be invited to functions and special events and will enjoy our hospitality on an annual basis.
• Major donors will additionally, form the backbone of the Albyn 150 Club. Substantial donations may allow donors to be entitled to sponsor a named bursary or have their name associated with a room or building in the School complex.
• Albyn 150 Club members will also be the guests of the Governors and the Headmaster at major School events.
