Albyn Announces Excellent Exam Results

Pupils at Albyn School in Aberdeen have continued the trend of strong academic results with pupils being awarded high grades in many subjects.

Fifth Year results were particularly impressive with a record 55% of all Highers being passed at A grade. The results included six pupils who attained A grades in five subjects and one pupil – Emily Powell – who gained an impressive six A grades. In the Sixth Year, the results of the Advanced Higher examinations were also good with 89% of all Advanced Higher papers being passed – 64% at A or B grade.

At Standard Grade, fourth year pupils achieved a 97% pass rate including 91% papers being passed at Credit Level. These results included seven girls who attained top grades in all subjects that they sat.

Dr Ian Long, the Albyn Headmaster said, “I am very pleased with these examination results. Pupils and staff at Albyn continue to work very hard and our Higher results were excellent – the best on record. I am delighted that so many of our leavers will get to their first choice universities.”

Notes: Albyn School is an independent co-educational day school for children aged 2-18 years. It has an excellent academic reputation, retaining its place at the forefront of Scottish education. It is regularly placed in the top ten of all Scottish schools in terms of academic results and has been growing in size as its senior school becomes co-educational. Approximately 95% of leavers go on to university, mostly in Scotland but also to other institutions in the UK including Oxford, Cambridge and overseas. Extra-curricular activities are strongly encouraged with pupils being involved both locally and nationally with sports, musical activities, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, Young Enterprise and the Literary and Debating Society are among the other prominent activities, while the value of recent expeditions to Borneo and the upcoming sports tour to Barbados also add to the life of the School.
