Albyn School offers a means-tested Fees Assistance (bursary) scheme for entry to any year of the UpperSchool to enable talented pupils who otherwise could not afford the fees to attend the School. For pupils entering the entrance examinations or Upper 1 in January, an application for Fees Assistance may be combined with an application for one or more of the Scholarship awards. Parents of current Lower 7 and UpperSchool pupils may also apply for Fees Assistance.
Candidates will be required to sit an entrance test in January in English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning, and to attend an interview with the Headmaster. The applicant’s parents or guardians will be asked to complete a Fees Assistance application form in addition to the normal application form for entry, in which they will be asked for detailed information as to their financial circumstances. This is to enable us to reach a fair decision with regard to the level of support needed. The information supplied will be treated in the strictest confidence.
The value of the fees assistance fund is determined by the Board of Governors. All applications are means tested and successful applicants are confirmed by the school along with offer letters in March. The level of fees assistance varies from 10% of the fees to, in certain circumstances 100% of the fees.
Fees Assistance awards will be tenable throughout the pupil’s time at the School, subject to terms and conditions. However, they are reassessed on an annual basis as circumstances do change and it is important to ensure fairness for all.
A copy of the Fees Assistance Application Form (CONFIDENTIAL once completed) and award conditions is available below.
