Armed Forces Appreciation

The Highland Reserve Forces hosted a reception at the Gordon Barracks on 20 October 2009 to thank organisations that support the Armed Forces. Commodore Charles Stevenson CBE, Naval Regional Officer for Scotland and Northern Ireland presented a certificate of recognition to the Headmaster – Dr. Long- for the support offered by Albyn School to the reserves of the Armed Forces. Among those present at the reception included the Lord Provost Aberdeen – Peter Stephen.

Albyn School

Albyn School is an independent, co-educational school with approximately 740 pupils aged 2-18 located in the west end of Aberdeen.

Founded in 1867, Albyn School has evolved to become one of Scotland's leading independent, co-educational day schools. Nurseries

Each child is unique and special. From the age of 2 years to the pre-school year every girl and boy goes through an astonishing period of development.

Lower School

Much has been made recently of the importance of providing the kind of atmosphere in which pupils feel happy and secure.

Albyn has always provided an environment that enables each child to blossom and therefore fulfil his or her individual potential. It is evident from our calendar of events that the Lower School children have a busy schedule. In addition, the staff work very hard behind the scenes to coordinate the children's class work to form a cohesive programme enabling them to progress smoothly from year to year.

Upper School

We recognise that the great majority of pupils who attain places in Albyn's Upper School will eventually progress onto University.

That is why knowledge shapes our curriculum, study programmes, homework and pattern of assessment. We are an academically successful School with a public examination record that rates as among the best in Aberdeen and shire.
