Sailing Success

Florence Wright, an Upper III pupil at Albyn School has just completed her Level 4 sailing certificate with the RYA (Royal Yachting Association). Florence has been sailing for about 5 years and even has her own dinghy that she sails on Loch Lomond.

By achieving her Level 4 sailing certification, Florence can now sail a variety of different boats, do a capsize practice, sail in a race and more.

“I really enjoy sailing because it is a sport that is exciting and different every time and always has something new to offer no matter what stage you are at”.

New Chairman Appointed

The School is delighted to announce the appointment of Ron Taylor as the new Chairman of the Board of Governors. Ron Taylor has been a governor at Albyn since 2007. He brings with him more than 17 years of experience of senior management in higher education in the United Kingdom and is currently the Vice President of Grenzebach Glier and Associates, consultants in Philanthropic Management.

We would like to thank the outgoing Chairman, Mr Ian Tannock for his many years of dedicated service to the School as a Board member.

Charity Coffee Morning

The annual MacMillan coffee morning at Albyn School wil be held on Friday 18th September 2009 at 8.30am-10.30am. All proceeds will be going towards the MacMillan cancer support charity.

Last year the event raised £968 which was an amazing amount for a morning, with the Lower School bake sale raising the most money. The suggested donation for parents’ coffee and cake in the dining room is £3.50.

Albyn regularly supports a number of local and international charities with each class in the school organising events to help raise money for charity.

A second-hand uniform sale is being held in the school hall on Saturday 12 September 2009 at 10am.

ASPA Donates Minibus

The Albyn School Parent’s Association (ASPA) has made a very generous donation of a minibus to the school. The minibus arrived earlier this week and is already being booked by various departments to take pupils on trips across the city.

We would like to thank ASPA for this and their continued support of the school.
