To win the sponsorship, Fionna had to prepare and present a talk about the Pony Club and her involvement. The talk reflected Fionna’s hard work and dedication to the club, fellow riders and her enjoyment of the sport.

The event in October is a team show jumping event where all local riding clubs and pony clubs compete. The jumps start at 1ft 6 for the first class and steadily increase with the final jumps at 4ft.

The Deeside Pony Club, are delighted that Fionna has secured such a big international company to sponsor the event for 2 years running.

Dr Long, the headmaster of the school said: “It’s wonderful to see the result of the hard work and commitment from one of our senior pupils. Fionna is an excellent role model and I wish her all the best for the event in October. Well done Fionna!”

Third Year Pupils To Take Part In The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative

Third year pupils at Albyn School are taking part in The Youth and Philanthropy Initiative. This initiative is an international programme that aims to develop the community leaders of the future, by encouraging pupils to become involved with community work.

Pupils in Upper III will be working in small groups to research the needs of their local community and identify the grassroots social service charity they believe is best place to make a positive contribution.

The group judged to have made the best presentation in each school is granted £3000 to award to their charity. The Wood Group in Aberdeen has donated this money to the initiative. During the process, pupils develop teamwork, communication and presentation skills as well as the technical skills needed for effective giving. Albyn is 1 of 10 schools in Scotland who are involved in this initiative this session.
